Observation and Photography of the nightsky is an exciting, but challenging activity.

Depending on the system you work with it can be hard to control, especially if you have less experience with telescopes and mounts. But the universe still arouses a lot of interest. Triggered by single events like bloodmoons, solar eclipses or images from the James Webb space telescope, we want to see and capture images by ourself.

How to make astrophotography more accessible to people who are interested in the nightsky?

Exploration

Painpoints

Astrophotography is based on Astronomy, Astronomy is based on physics.

Interested users have to acquire a lot of knowledge about orientation at the nightsky, environmental conditions on the Earth and how products like telescopes and cameras work.

Different extraterrestrial objects need different observation-instruments.

There is no telescope, which can be used for every object, it’s all about how big they appear and how strong the light is.

Controlling more than one product at the same time.

It is stressful to keep control over telescope, mount and camera while observing, because any mistake destroys an image.

Light pollution, temperature and earth rotation

Environmental situation on earth is a problem a product can’t solve.

Potential

A new field of use

Astrophotography is based on astronomy.

To capture images from extra-terrestrial objects you have to be capable of controlling both, telescope and camera.

Telescope manufacturer assume prior knowledge and build their products mostly for users with astronomy-knowledge.

Potential for a new product exists in professional astrophotography for less experienced people, focused on creating amazing images.

Conception

Accessible astrophotography

for beginners and those who are more focussed on visual results.

Modular telescope tubes

to provide a wide range of visible extra-terrestrial objects.

Autotracking and GoTo-Control

to keep the user’s concentration on the creative process of taking pictures instead of controlling different components permanently.

Image Stacking

Image errors because of environmental situation on earth can be minimized through “stacking”-processes

basin translates this experience into a pendant light.

Its exterior is calm, clean and understated. A simple reflective shell that quietly blends into contemporary interiors.

Only when viewed from below does its hidden landscape unfold.

A series of overlapping layers, formed from a single deep-drawn plastic sheet, create a sculptural basin that guides the eye towards the centrally positioned light source.

The flowing geometry captures and reflects light, creating an composition of highlights, shadows and depths, all depending on the viewers position.

Like a mountain landscape, basin rewards curiosity. From every angle, new contours emerge, transforming a functional object into a moment of discovery.

Enjoy the view. Just not straight into the light.
